Here's a checklist of things you may need to pack for the
hospital. I would recommend that you don't pack more than what is
suggested.
1. Registration info.
2. Your favorite pillow with your favorite perfume sprayed on it.
Of course, there are pillows at the hospital, but it helped me
feel better when I held on to my own. The perfume helped me keep
calm during the contractions.
3. A pair of warm socks. The hospital can be quite breezy. I had
socks on the whole time--even during labor.
4. A hair band (or/and hair clips) for holding hair up and out of
the way (if that's more comfortable for you).
5. Toiletries--facial cleaner, toothbrush, toothpaste,
moisturizer, towels, comb, etc. The hospital provides shampoo and
shower gel.
6. A pair of slippers. I would suggest that you wear them to the
hospital so that you wouldn't have to pack them in the bag.
7. A Boppy (a U-shaped pillow) for breastfeeding. I found it quite
handy when I first started breastfeeding.
8. A nursing bra and clothes with easy access to the breast.<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]--><!--[endif]-->
For your husband:
1. A pillow and blanket.
2. Snacks (lots).
3. Camera, batteries, charger, etc.
4. Cell phone and a list of numbers of friends and family.
5. Massager (to give you a massage when you need it).
6. Baby's journal for baby's footprints. You can also bring a
blank T-shirt or anything you'd like to have the footprints on.
For baby:
1. A going home outfit.
2. Car seat.
3. Receiving blankets.
The hospital provides most of the other things you'll need--just
don't be shy to ask a nurse for them.
